43RD District Conference (12 - 14 DEC 2011)

12th-14th December, 2011

Nur Laman Bistari Training Camp & Eco Resorts, Ulu Yam, Selangor

12th December 2011
7 Interactors from Taiping gathered at the Taiping Train Station at 12 am. President Saw Cheng Hoe and PP Lim Peng Tong were also present to brief and send us off to our destination. Before we left for Selangor, we had some food together with the President and P. President opposite the train station. After eating, we waited at the train station for the train to arrive. The train arrived at 1.20am, 20 minutes late from the stated departure time. It took a mere 6 hours for us to arrive at KL Sentral. We had breakfast at McDonalds later.
After breakfast we took the KMT to
Batu Caves. There, we were picked up by the buses provided by the Organizers of the Conference at around 10am. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough space for all of us to sit on the bus, so we splitted up into 2 groups, one group sat in the bus while the other sat in the PP of the Rotary Club of Klang’s car.
After reaching our destination, we collected our
luggages from the bus and headed to the main hall to register ourselves. After registering we had some tea at the main canteen. We mingled around and got to meet some new friends later on.

An hour later, we were given our keys to our chalets. After leaving our luggage in our respective rooms, we were asked to assemble at the main tent for a round of briefing by the organizers. We had lunch later. Another round of briefing was given out. After the briefing, we had 2 round games and a ‘Ice-breaking’ session. Later we were left to wonder around the camp site and rest. Dinner was served at 7pm. After dinner, we listened to talks given by the PP and Rotarians of Klang about the environment and team leadership building. Everyone was later served with some snacks after the talks and later headed to back to the chalets for rest at 11pm.
        13th December 2011

We were asked to wake up at 6.30am in the morning to prepare for the main opening ceremony. Everyone dressed in their respective Interact uniforms and headed to the tent for the ceremony. Breakfast was served at around 8am. Later we gathered under the tent to wait for the District Governor and other VIPS to arrive. After their arrival, we sang the Malaysian Anthem and the Interact Anthem together. Each Interact club who attended the conference were later introduced to everyone. The District Governor also gave a speech. After the ceremony, we went back to our chalets to change to proper attire for the next few  events.  After changing we gathered back at the tent to listening to a few more talks. One of the talks were about the Student Exchange program where one of the Interactors, Emil from Germany,  talked about his experiences staying in Malaysia. Everybody listened attentively to his story. After the talks, lunch was served. After lunch we had another set of outdoor games.

After the outdoor games, we went back to the chalets to wash up. Everyone dressed to the nines that night. Dinner was served at 7pm. We listened to another talk about Self Discipline later on. Afterwards we had talenttime where everyone had to perform in groups on stage. It was very entertaining. After talenttime we gathered around the campfire built by the organizers. Some ran and sang too. Later we went back to our chalets again to pack our backs because we were going to catch the early train back.

Interact Anthem

Hand of friendship

Oh let the hand of friendship

Be stretched across the sea

To bring mankind together

In one fraternity

May love and understanding

Prevail in one and all

May brothers come to brothers

To answer duty’s call

We faithful interactors

Prepared to play our part

To serve with love and needy

With understanding heart

When nations join with nations

To build a brave new world

Thus then the heart of children

Shall sing the song of mirth

Let not your feet be lagging

But come and join our throng

Let fill this world together with friendship happy song
